Kevin teaches 2 styles of Yoga: Tantra and Vinyasa Power Flow.
Tantric yoga is a type of yoga that has been well documented to help improve self-esteem, lower stress levels, and reduce physical pain. It can also help you sleep better and feel better rested overall. The word tantra itself has origins that mean “to weave or loom.” Some consider this to be an advanced yoga practice, so if you are ready for a positive challenge in your practice, Tantra Yoga may be for you
Tantra yoga is believed to have started in the 6th century and the moving asanas are really only a way to quieten the body, preparing us for meditation at the end of the session, so it’s more a moving meditation towards the silence and inner peace. Rather than a physical workout, it focuses on internal connection and reflection. Physical, flexibility, strength, and knowledge of the postures take a backseat and our primary intention through this hour is of self-knowledge and empowerment, to become truly in tune with our awareness, our body and our feelings in order to reach spiritual enlightenment through connecting with your energy. In order to get us to that point, through this practice we will be visualising colours and using sound, the sound will be the chanting of OM, this brings focus and vibration through our body to our chakras
Vinyasa Power flow is a dynamic and energetic style of yoga, inspired by Baron Baptiste’s ‘Journey into power’ which focuses on linking movement and breath. The classes are not described in terms of beginner or advanced, the Vinyasa flow sequence can be practiced by any and all yogis and works up to a flow of poses that will challenge the body and create more space, stillness in the mind and an empowering flowing system of yoga for total body transformation.
